LIPOSUCTION / BODY CONTOURING / LIPOSCULPTURE
Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty (“fat modeling”), liposculpture suction lipectomy or simply lipo (“suction-assisted fat removal”) is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Areas affected can range from the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere. Men’s bodies tend to accumulate fat around the chest, waist and belly. As we age and gain weight, deposits also develop beneath the chin/jawline and jowls. This predisposition is likely to be genetically related and controlled by hormones. These undesirable bulges are even seen on body builders despite adequate exercise. All men develop a certain amount of breast tissue. This frequently produces a female looking breast which can be corrected with liposculpture. Occasionally excessive breast tissue must be excised with an incision surrounding the nipple. The waist and belly areas are common problems for most men even if they are in good condition. Despite weight loss and exercise bulges tend to persist. Under intravenous and local anesthesia the fat and breast tissues can be suctioned using a tumescent or wetting solution which helps to liquify the fat and decrease bleeding. A fine canula is passed through the tissues attached to suction which removes enough tissue to make these areas appear normal. In some cases we can even sculpt an abdominal six pack. With continued exercise and weight loss we can even give you back the waist that you had in your younger days. The procedure takes under two hours. You can go home shortly after finishing. Associated pain and soreness resolve quickly, allowing you to return to work and exercise within a few days. Results are noticeable immediately then a week later when the swelling is subsiding. Gradual improvement is noted for months. A compressive garment worn for one month after the procedure decreases swelling and bruising. The technology and technique have passed the test of time for over twenty five years making these procedures surprisingly affordable.
