BLEPHAROPLASTY / EYELID SURGERY
Blepharoplasty is surgical modification of the eyelid. Excess tissue such as skin and fat are removed or repositioned, and surrounding muscles and tendons may be reinforced. It can be both a functional and cosmetic surgery. A man’s eyelids typically show the first sign of facial aging. Lower eyelid bulges appear secondary to a relaxation of the ligaments and muscles suspending the fat below the eye. The cheeks begin to descend downward leaving a trough, hollowness and darkness between the eyelids nose and cheeks. Lines and wrinkles form secondary to sun damage and aging. These areas are addressed using a comprehensive approach including a lower eyelid skin and muscle lift, removal and repositioning of the bulging fat and excess eyelid skin, resurfacing of the skin with aggressive skin care, laser or dermabrasion and Botox. The approach can be from inside the eyelid or below the lash line. The later resulting in a relatively inconspicuous scar in one of the crow’s feet. These procedures are typically performed under a light sedation, topical and local anesthesia. Recovery is quick due to minimal pain. You can return to work within a few days wearing reflective glasses and concealer to camouflage the swelling and bruising which begins to subside after three days.
