Dr. Luis Cenedese attended public schools in Brooklyn, NY. Valedictorian in junior high school and graduating at the top of his class at Lafayette High School he was awarded a scholarship to attend Columbia University’s Columbia College. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree in three years he was awarded a full scholarship and admission to the M.D. Ph.D. program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. It was there that his interest in plastic surgery began. As a student rotating in the Kings County Hospital Plastic Surgery Service his exposure to major maxillo-facial trauma, caring for burn victims at the Burn Center and reconstruction of congenital defects in children inspired him to compete for a position in the field of Plastic Surgery.
His exemplary record in the surgical departments allowed him to be elected for internship and residency at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. During the 1980’s in Beth Medical Center he specialized in plastic surgery, both reconstructive and cosmetic. After completion of his four year surgical residency and upon recommendation of his chairman, he was chosen to complete his Plastic Surgical training at the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. He was fortunate to experience three years of extensive work in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and thereby was elected Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Cenedese completed a post graduate fellowship at the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia prior to starting a private practice in Manhattan.
Dr. Cenedese’s personality and demeanor make him easy to talk to. He exhibits great pride in his work as well as deep empathy for his patients. His constant refining of technique, search for new approaches and learning of tolerance for the benefit of his patients have developed a loyal following.
Please consider this testimonial from one of our patients. The Silicone Lip Saga. My name is Jill. Ten years ago I decided to get Silicone injected into my lips. I heard that Silicone injected into lips is much cheaper, makes your lips look a lot fuller and is permanent. I had used other products and spent a lot to enhance my lips. Nothing lasted. I was looking for a permanent solution not knowing what would happen after a couple of years. My girlfriend knew a couple of girls who had the silicone injected into their lips. They all loved their results, it was inexpensive. I didn’t need any reason to find out more. This was my first big mistake. The place was in the back of a hair salon in Queens; the injector was unlicensed as well. I had my top and bottom lips injected with a small amount of silicone. I had a feeling that a made a big mistake. Five years after the injections I started to notice changes; my smile was looking funny and my lips began to look deformed. The silicone seemed to migrate and form lumps. I sought various consultations, Dr. Cenedese suggested to inject the lips with a scar softener. I was told that there was no way of removing the Silicone. My lips were getting worse. There was no chance my lips were going to get better. I decided to have it excised. The Doctor excised the lip tissue containing the Silicone and carefully stitched them up with dissolving stitches. The procedure went well without discomfort. Since the swelling has resolved I am very happy about my results. I really thought I would have to live with this forever. Now I have back my beautiful smile.
