Fat Injections to Breasts
Breast augmentations are fairly common for women these days. Women choose to use breast augmentation surgery for both cosmetic and pyschological reasons. While implants are usually the first option for any type of breast work, another option is fat injections. Fat injections can produce a more natural shaped breast than augmentation with implants. Fat from most areas of the body can be used to inject into the breast. Up to one half a cup size may be acheived per session. Fat grafting may be repeated and need not be performed under general anesthesia. Fat is injected into the areas most needing of augmentation. Sixty to seventy percent of the fat typically will survive for years if not permanently. The procedure may be repeated after a few months of healing. This procedure is ideal to correct post surgical and mastectomy deformities, augmentation after removal of implants, implant rippling and assymetric breasts. Male to female transgender patients are also good candidates as there is no need to lift the stronger pectoral muscles of a man’s chest to place an implant beneath them. Typically performed under a deep sedation most patients with a fair amount of body fat are candidates for this procedure.
